ASUS gaming laptop Review: The X550ZA-WH11 G

The Asus X550ZA-WB11 is a laptop that has received quite a bit of praise  which is not surprising. The Asus gaming laptop has a phenomenal price to performance ratio and has few key things going for it. The processor found inside the X550ZA laptop is a Quad-Core AMD A10-7400P running at a clock speed of 2.5ghz. In terms of the laptop’s ram and internal storage, the X550ZA features 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a large 1TB hard. When it comes to graphics technology, the ASUS laptop features a dedicated Radeon R6 GPU which helps a ton with gaming. The Asus laptop’s screen size and resolution is 15.6’’ at 1366×768 pixels. Design wise, the laptop is very sleek looking and rocks the traditional sleek and slim Asus look. We tinkered around with this laptop and we’re fairly impressed at what we seen.

Pros

  • The AMD Quad-core processor is solid and will perform very when it comes to gaming

  • The backlit LED display has solid viewing angles with very deep colouring
  • When the laptop was pushed and stressed, it did not heat up like some of the other similar laptops

  • 8Gigs of Ram ensure a blazing fast laptop and the 1TB hard drive means storage won’t be an issue
  • Asus is one of the best laptop brands with a reputation of providing amazing customer.

  • Laptop is built very well and looks very modern, sleek and stylish.

Cons

  • Battery life is not the greatest when you compare it to other budget gaming laptops
  • The Asus laptop only has a 2.5ghz wireless signal and lacks 5ghz
  • Laptop would tend to heat up when it was stressed and pushed
  • Although not excessive, the laptop has a bit of bloatware that should be removed upon purchase.

Bottom Line

The X550ZA-WH11 ASUS gaming laptop is worth considering if you plan on doing any sort of gaming. It is priced extremely well with good specification, a solid design style and a good overall brand. When it comes to gaming performance, we managed to run current generation games around the medium to low range and last generation games around the medium to high range. That said, there were a few drawbacks with this laptop like its poor battery life and the tendency to heat up but they are greatly out shadowed. Where this laptop really shines and why we feel this is the best gaming laptop under 500 from Asus is in its build quality.  This laptop is highly recommended if you plan on doing any sort of budget gaming.
